"First of all I am a Hindu. It is our duty to protect cows. Those who do not understand the spoken word must be taught a lesson by other means," Raja Singh said.

T Raja Singh Lodh, the BJP's party whip for Telangana and MLA from Goshamal, has said that he is ready to 'kill or get killed' to protect the 'Gau Mata' (cow).

His outrage is in response to a planned beef festival at Osmania University, Hyderabad.

"People are entitled to eat whatever they wish. However they should not hurt anyone's religious sentiments. If religious sentiments are being hurt, we have the right to stop this festival," said the MLA to CNN IBN.

Issuing a chilling threat to the festival organisers, Singh said, "We warn them against a Dadri-like incident in Telangana. We can both give our lives and take life for the sake of protecting the cow".

Speaking about the Parliament debate on 'growing intolerance', Raja Singh said, "First of all I am a Hindu. It is our duty to protect cows. Those who do not understand the spoken word must be taught a lesson by other means".

Raja Singh claimed he did not care whether the BJP supported his campaign against the beef festival. "As a Hindu and a cow lover, I will do my duty. I have become an MLA only due to the blessings of the Gau Mata (Mother Cow). I have saved many cows from being killed at the risk of my life.".

Raja Singh also ironically demanded the removal of Telangana BJP President G Kishen Reddy for his not taking a stand against cow slaughter, and demanded that he apologise to Hindus.

"Kishen Reddy has never spoken in favour of Hindutva and against cow slaughter," Raja Singh said angrily.

Raja Singh told a Hyderabad-based daily that he had written a letter to BJP President Amit Shah seeking removal of Kishan Reddy from the top post immediately.

Earlier, a delegation of BJP, VHP and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti party members, led by Raja Singh Lodh, had submitted memorandums to principal secretary Ranjeev R Acharya, who is also in charge vice-chancellor of Osmania University.

Osmania University students have decided to hold a beef eating festival on December 10 to protest against the Dadri killings and beef bans across the country.

Interestingly, T Raja Singh was in the news this May for shoving a policemen who tried to stop him from playing loud music at night. Some irony.
