The Congress on Thursday urged the Prime Minister to speak out on the controvery regarding External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje providing help to former IPL chairperson Lalit Modi.
Referring to a recent interview given by Bharatiya Janata Party veteran Lal Krishna Advani, the grand old party further accused the government of being run by a 'Bada Modi' and 'Chhota Modi'.
"Today the jury is out. A member of the margdarshak of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Lal Krishna Advani has spoken. Today the nation is asking this very question. You have a 70 mm scam that is facing the nation. We are all vulnerable. The Prime Minister who promised to bring back the black money... today is he protecting the same people who are holding this black money? The government today is run by a Chhota Modi and a Bada Modi. This is the day which was the promise of 'achhe din'. We have been waiting, but after a year we know that 'acche din' was for Chhota Modi," Congress leader Tom Vadakkan said.
"The Prime Minister who knows what the menu of his ministers is when they are dining out... that Prime Minister does not know, under his very nose, a fugitive is being protected extra-constitutionally. Why is there no action against the foreign minister? Does that indicate consent? We ask the Prime Minister – let him get out of his political vipasana... today he is silent. He needs to explain to the country what is happening. His own margdarshak is asking questions," he added.
Advani had earlier in an interview to an English daily said that he did not see any sign in India's polity that assured him of any outstanding aspect of leadership, adding that he did not have the confidence that a situation like the Emergency would not be repeated in the country.
