Three army men detained with 170 kg of ganja

Three army men were detained after Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered 170 kg of ganja valued at Rs five lakh from them here on Wednesday.

GUWAHATI: Three army men were detained after Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered 170 kg of ganja valued at Rs five lakh from them here on Wednesday.

The train checking staff detected six bags inside the air-conditioned two-tier coach of Dn Sampat Kranti Express at platform number six of the Guwahati railway station around 6.30 am, GRP sources said.

On asking if the bags belonged to them, the three Gorkha Rifles personnel sitting nearby replied in the affirmative. On opening the bags, 170 kg of ganja was found and the three defence personnel were apprehended, they said.
 
Rifles man Prashant Tamang, Ajit Kumar Thapa and Naik Pasam Tamang from 5/8 Gorkha Rifles were proceeding from Manipur to Allahabad.

They were being interrogated.
