Three businessmen were found dead under unexplained circumstances on Monday night in a luxury car parked in RK Puram area of south Delhi.
The deceased have been identified as Nishant, 32, a resident of Laxmi Bai Nagar, Balwinder, 33 of Kishengarh and Laxman, 32 of sector 4 R K Puram. They were friends and had jointly started online catering business some months back. Preliminary investigations reveal that the trio could have died due to consumption of some poisonous substance or gas poisoning inside the car.
Police came to know about the incident at around 10:30 pm on Monday when a PCR caller informed that three men were lying unconscious in white-color Honda City car. Police immediately reached the spot and removed all three to nearby AIIMS trauma center, where they were declared as brought dead.
Police is investigating the matter under 174 CrPC and post-mortem of the deceased as been conducted as well. Even though family members of the deceased are suspecting foul play, police has not registered any case as of now.
"They were chatting inside the car with AC on and were eating snacks as well. As of now it seems that they might have died due to gas poisoning or consumption of poisonous substance as no injury marks have been found on their bodies. We are investigating all angles and cannot rule out any possibility," said a senior police official.
He said the post-mortem report will explain the cause of death more clearly. "We also want to get clear picture of what has happened and if there is some foul play we will register a case as well," he said.
Lakhwinder Singh, brother of deceased Balwinder, told reporters that there is a possibility that fourth person was sitting inside the car. "The seat next to the driver was empty as two of them sitting on back seat.
Police should investigate who else was present there. Somebody could have poisoned them," he alleged.
According to police, Balwinder left his residence in Kishengarh at around 11:30am and reached Laxmi Bai Nagar at around 2:30 pm, where he was joined by Nishant. The duo then drove towards RK Puram, where Laxman joined the group at around 3:30pm.
Then they drove off and returned to Sector 4 RK Puram near Laxman's grocery shop between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm. "They parked the car, switched on the AC and were chatting till the time they were found unconscious at around 10 pm," said a police official.
Police are also scanning footage of CCTV installed in nearby shops and residential complex to ascertain what exactly happened. Police has also found some vomit marks and a snacks packet inside the car.
