The rise in number of burglary attempts has given the city police sleepless nights.
In three new but separate incidents cash and jewellery to the tune of Rs5 lakh was stolen from homes and shops in Ghatlodia and Satellite. Deepak Modh, owner of a jewellery shop in Ghatlodia filed a complaint with the police after his shop was burgled on Monday night.

Modh mentioned in his complaint that someone opened the shutter of his shop and escaped with gold jewellery worth Rs3.15 lakh. "The burglars took away 35 gold chains, 14 bracelets, 250 bangles and other jewellery," a police source with the Ghatlodia police told DNA.

In another incident, Jayesh Shukla, a resident of Prernatirth Bungalows near Jain Derasar in Satellite had his TV, laptop and silver utensils among others stolen from his house. The worth of the goods stolen was around Rs2.5 lakh.

"Someone opened the lock of the door with a duplicate key and stole the goods," said a source.   The incident occurred late in the night on Sunday.  In a daylight burglary, Surjeet Chhabda, a resident of Punjab Society in Meghaninagar filed a police complaint after someone escaped with Rs63,000 from his house.
