AMRAVATI: Central Railway on Saturday assured that three new trains will begin from Amravati railway station after it receives clearance by the railway board, a senior railway authority said.

"Railway Board will take a final decision about periodicity and timings of Amravati-Mumbai Express, Amravati-Surat passenger and Amravati-Nagpur Inter-city Express trains," Soumya Raghavan, General Manager (GM) of Central Railway said in a meeting here after inspecting Amravati, Badnera and New Amravati railway stations.  She said that though the proposed new trains from Amravati will start rolling out soon, it would take some time for the complete development of Amravati railway station.

"It will take more than one year to complete the task," Raghavan said.

The GM said that Amravati-Mumbai train will run twice a week and its frequency will be increased as per the response. Similarly, Amravati-Nagpur train will run five days a week from Monday to Friday with departure from Amravati in morning hours and that from Nagpur in the evening.

Guardian Minister Dr Sunil Deshmukh, Dr Devisingh Shekhavat, spouse of President Pratibha Patil and MLC Prof B T Deshmukh also attended the meeting.
