Taking advantage of thick fog and mist, Pakistani troops enter the Indian side in Mendhar sector of Poonch district at 11.30 am.
A patrol of 13 Rajputana Rifles going from Chatri to Atma post spot the Border Action Team of Pakistani Army and engage them. The Pakistani troops had come 400m into Indian territory.
Gun-battle continues for more than 30 minutes; Pakistani troops retreat to their side of LoC.
Two army soldiers, Lance Naik Hemraj and Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh, are killed in the encounter. Pakistan troops multilate the body of a soldier, take away the weapons of the murdered soldiers.
Pakistan army again open fire twice at Indian positions. Pakistan troops fire at Indian positions in Krishnagati sector around 4 pm and again at Sona Gali in Poonch at 8.45 pm.
