Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik said here today that it was too early to write off Shiv Sena after its defeat in the Maharashtra assembly elections.
Talking informally to reporters, the minister said, in a democracy defeat and victory were part and parcel of political parties and nothing much must be read into it.
Similarly it was too early to say if Shiv Sena would crumble or the MNS of Raj Thackeray would prosper in the long run, Wasnik said.
Answering a question, he said that the Congress-NCP victory in the Maharashtra assembly elections indicated that people of the state had put their stamp of approval on the government that had been ruling in Maharashtra for the last ten years.
The minister said that both the Centre and the State government had done a lot for Vidarbha where the situation was much better than what it was made out to be.
Before leaving for New Delhi, Wasnik also paid a visit to the Madhya Pradesh Congress office here.
