Top Harkat-ul-Mujahideen militant among two killed in Sopore

A defence spokesperson said the encounter started yesterday in Haigham, 50 kms from Srinagar, in which an Army jawan was killed.

A top Harkat-ul-Mujahideen militant was among two ultras killed in an encounter with security forces in Sopore town of North Kashmir today.

A defence spokesperson said the encounter started yesterday in Haigham, 50 kms from here, in which an Army jawan was killed.

The slain self-styled divisional commander was identified as Nouman. He was a Pakistani national and involved in an attack on Lal Chowk here in February, 2010.

Sepoy Sanjay Kumar belonging to the Rashtriya Rifles was killed in the encounter yesterday.
