Teachers and students say some questions were tricky in nature and some questions were too difficult for students to comprehend

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) received many complaints from parents and students following a difficult chemistry paper (Class XI Science). Subject teachers also agreed that the question paper was tricky in nature and that the questions asked were also difficult for students to comprehend.

RS Patel, a city-based chemistry teacher said, "While the questions were from textbook, it was not easy to understand them. Of course, some clever students could have comprehended it but majority of them found it tough. Some questions had wrong options and one of the two marks sums was not clearly defined." Patel further said, "Questions carrying a total of seven marks were unclear. Some of the questions were from the syllabus of the second semester."

Rahil Shah, a Class XI student of Ankur School said, "The questions were very tough to understand. All students at the examination centre were left dumb-faced. We couldn't understand from which part of the book the questions were asked. MCQs were hard to solve."

The statement issued by KR Zanzrukia, GSHSEB secretary said that subject teachers have checked the booklet no 01 of the question paper and they have found that there were mistakes in options of question no 35 and 43. They opined that students, who have attempted to answer the question by selecting any of the answers, should be given full marks for the same. This is the first time that Class XI science examinations are being held in the semester system.
