A report prepared by the National Commission of Women (NCW) states that the surgeon looking at the gang-rape case in Motihari in Bihar has conducted the prohibited two-finger test. The report will be submitted to the PMO and minister of home affairs Rajnath Singh on Wednesday.
The two-member committee, which went to Motihari in Bihar's East Champaran district on July 25, says in its report that the surgeon in Sadar Hospital in Motihari conducted the two-finger rape test on the victim.
"The victim was picked up by the police from her home and taken to the Sadar hospital, was made to undergo the two-finger test. The test, the police claims, did not confirm rape," said NCW member Sushma Sahu.
"We have summoned the surgeon of the civil hospital on July 1, as we are not sure how many such cases have been discarded. We will now find out how many such cases were taken up by the surgeon in the last decade," said Sahu. "On the surface, this looks like a case that the police is clearly trying to brush under the carpet."
The incident occurred on July 13 when the accused was dragged out of her hut and gang-raped by five men, including a neighbour. The victim was allegedly violated by a pistol and sticks.
