Two persons, including a woman, were killed and 25 others injured, five of them critically, after a state-run Road Transport Corporation bus overturned in Khammam district of Telangana today.
The mishap occurred at around Thursday morning (11 AM) when the bus carrying 44 passengers was travelling to Bhadrachalam from Khammam when it suddenly overturned before a bridge near Godavari river at Bhadrachalam, police said.
"In the incident, one woman passenger died on the spot while the bus-driver succumbed to his injuries later. 25 others who sustained injuries were hospitalised and the condition of five of them is serious," ASP, Bhadrachalam Sub-Division, M Bhaskaran said. Telangana Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy expressed shock over the accident and ordered an inquiry.
He also instructed officials to provide proper medical aid to the injured passengers.
