Two persons were killed and another injured on Wednesday when the wall of a private building collapsed near Delhi metro's depot in east Delhi, fire brigade officials said.

The incident took place in Shastri Nagar at around 1.00pm. The wall near the gate number two of metro's depot collapsed when a contractor and two labourers were repairing a drain.

The labourers working on the site were trapped inside the debris, the officials said adding the workers had dug the drain 7-8 feet deep.

Three were rescued from the debris and rushed to a nearby hospital where two of them, including the contractor, were declared brought dead.

A Delhi metro spokesperson said the metro had nothing do with the incident.
