A CRPF jawan-turned-militant and another ultra were arrested and a cache of arms recovered from them in Kishtwar and Poonch districts, police said today.
Acting on a tip off, security forces raided a hideout of the CRPF-jawan-turned militant of Hizbul Mujahideen, Khalik Hussain, in Patidhar village of Poonch district late last night.
Khalik, who was working with 84th battalion of CRPF before being dismissed had served two years in jail in connection with the killing of a colleague in 2001.
Police said he was tasked to prepare improvised explosive devices and trigger blasts in the border district and Poonch highway.
Khalik joined militants after returning to Mendhar tehsil where his son Zubair Ahmed was allegedly working with Hizbul commanders in the area.
Zubair, a Class X student, is also absconding and a hunt for him is on, they said.
During search operation in Khalik's hideout, security forces recovered 2 kgs of RDX, 11 detonators, 10 safety fuses, five meters wire and 10 pika detonators and some ammunition
rounds, they said.
Acting on another intelligence input, police and security forces arrested a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant Abdul Gani from Saeawan area of Kishtwar district last night.
He was a close associate of LeT group commander Habibullah
alais Salma code name Abu Tak.
