Eight new H1N1 positive cases have been reported in the state on Wednesday.

Of the eight, four are in Surat, two in Ahmedabad and one each in Valsad and Bhavnagar. With this the total number of H1N1 positive cases in the state has gone up to 66 in Gujarat. Meanwhile, one more casualty suspected to be due to H1N1 has been reported in Surat.

According to sources in Surat, the patient has died because of swine flu infection.

However, principal secretary (state), Ravi Saxena said that they are yet to know what caused the death.

"We are waiting to know the exact cause of the death, whether it was swine flu infection or something else. At present it is very difficult to comment," said Saxena. The state health department also issued notice to all hospitals in the state late on Tuesday night.
