Former BJP leader Uma Bharti and the party's state president Bishan Singh Chufal today met Baba Ramdev and expressed solidarity with the Yoga guru who resumed his stir against graft here after being evicted from Delhi's Ramlila Maidan in a pre-dawn police crackdown on Sunday.
Uma Bharti reached Patanjali Yogpeeth, where Ramdev is holding a Satyagraha since last night along with his supporters and disciples and spent 15 minutes with him on the dias.
"I fully support Baba Ramdev as he is fighting for the country," she said while leaving.
Earlier, Uttarakhand BJP President Chufal also drove to Patanjali Yogpeeth from Lucknow and met Baba Ramdev.
He said BJP workers today observed a black day and sat on a 24-hour Satyagraha at district headquarters to protest against the police crackdown on Baba Ramdev and his supporters at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi.
Uttarakhand chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and former chief minister ND Tiwari also met with Baba Ramdev yesterday to lend their support to him.
As the number of supporters reaching Yagyashala at Patanjali Yogpeeth is increasing, the venue of the Satyagraha would be shifted to a bigger hall in phase II of the yogpeeth, ashram sources said.
Meanwhile, Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists also held a protest demonstration in Haridwar riding on scooters and motorcycles shouting slogans like, "Baba Tum Sangharsha Karo, Hum Tumhare Sath Hain" (Baba, you continue the fight, we are with you).
