The Centre on Friday invited bids to develop a voice assistant application to deliver e-governance services to the common people.
It is to be noted that the chatbot will be similar to that of Amazon’s Alexa or Google Assistant. The application is supposed to convert text into speech, and vice versa.
It is also required to interact with the public in multiple languages, collect and analyse data to give personalised experience to users.
“The platform should be able to provide assistance with general tasks, including but not limited to availing services of government and available on the UMANG platform such as registration, login, reset password, department service relation information, event, (and) new launch...etc,” the proposal document stated.
“Platforms should also have other deep learning capabilities, which can be used by platforms for discovery and recommendation of eligible schemes and services to the users of bots/applications. “Users should be recommended best-fit schemes and services available in government domain based on his/her profile,” the document added.
The proposals were initiated by the National E-Governance Division of Ministry of Electronics and IT for the purpose of deploying it n the UMANG platform which includes various applications that provide government services to its citizens.
It is an evolving platform designed for citizens of India to offer them access to the pan-India e-Gov services from the Central, state, local Bodies, and agencies of government on app, web, SMS, and IVR channels.
It was envisaged to make e-governance 'mobile first'. It is developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD).
