An unidentified, unattended speed boat was found floating in the sea near Bharuch, late on Sunday evening. During investigation, the police found an empty sim card cover and two paper napkins with Singapore and Indonesian logos inside the boat. Police believe that the boat got separated from some vessel and settled near Bharuch.
Fishermen of Katpore village in Hansot taluka of Bharuch discovered the unattended boat some 12km away from the coast.
They immediately informed the police who rushed to the spot and started the investigation.
As the police did not find anything suspicious, they believe that the boat got separated from its parent vessel and sailed towards Katpor village.
However, the local police are taking the matter seriously.
Gautam Parmar, DSP of Bharuch has asked the department to conduct an inquiry in the coastal villages of the district as they suspect terrorist intrusion. "We are on the alert and are investigating the matter. At present, it is impossible to say whether the boat was used by terrorists or not," Parmar said.
