The 103rd Science Congress which will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister will be held at the University of Mysuru from January 3 to 7, 2016.

A report in Deccan Herald states that the theme for this event is “Science and Technology for Indigenous Development in India”. More than 15000 delegates are expected to attend the event. There will also be lectures by Nobel laureates and 450 top institutions will showcase cutting-edge innovations under the Pride of India Science Mega Expo.

A Hall of Fame will be set up and dedicated to late President Dr Abdul Kalam. A special pavilion will also be dedicated the late Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya.

The Science Congress is being hosted in Karnataka after 13 years and in Mysuru after 34 years, says the report. About 500 scientists and experts are expected to speak at the event. There will also be genesis symposiums, Vigyan Jyot, vision talks, women and children science congress, young scientists’ award, ISCA awards, science communicators’ meet and public lectures.

The 103rd Science Congress is being supported by Infosys which will host 600 people on its Mysuru campus.
