Congress in Uttar Pradesh today demanded a CBI probe into the major arms racket involving police and CRPF personnel.

The state STF busted the racket yesterday when it arrested five security personnel and a retired sub-inspector for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to criminals and possibly Naxals.

It is expected that the links of those involved in this racket could be in other states as well and therefore in order to expose all those involved in it, an agency like CBI should be asked to conduct an inquiry into the matter, UPCC spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh said.

The Congress leader also hailed the UP ATS and STF for successfully busting the racket.
