Amid a surge of COVID-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government has swung into action and imposed a night curfew in several major districts.
There will be a night curfew will be in Varanasi from Thursday, from 9 pm to morning. Then morning time is yet to be announced.
In Prayagraj, a night curfew has been imposed from 10 pm to 8 am on Thursday till further notice. The District Magistrate informed that essential services will be
exempted from the curfew.
In view of rising cases of COVID-19, a night curfew has also been imposed in Uttar Pradesh`s capital Lucknow, Kanpur and Varanasi with effect from Thursday night.
Night curfew in Lucknow will remain in place from 9 pm to 6 am and will continue till April 16. There will be a night curfew in Kanpur from 10 pm to 6 in the night. The curfew will continue till April 30.
Uttar Pradesh has reported 4,689 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday taking the total number of active cases in the state to 27,509. The death toll in Uttar Pradesh stands at 8,924 with 30 deaths on Wednesday.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called an emergency meeting on Thursday regarding the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state. The meeting will be held today at 7:30 pm in the evening. The Chief Minister has been in the poll-bound state of West Bengal due to which the meeting could not be conducted today in the morning as scheduled.
