Good news for politicians, mafias and corrupt babus, the Yogi Adityanath Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to restore provision of seeking anticipatory bail in Uttar Pradesh 42 years after it was revoked in 1976.
After approval from the cabinet, the state government is planning to introduce a bill in the State Legislature during monsoon session for reviving the earlier legislation with minor changes. After ratification from both Houses in the state, the same will be sent to the Central government for assent from the President.
The decision has come as a shot in the arms of the politicians, criminals and corrupt babus who used to rush to the Supreme Court for seeking anticipatory bails as state had scrapped the same in 1976.
The cabinet has also approved a proposal to construct a 400-bed hospital in Chandauli foundation stone for which was laid by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month.
A proposal to grant concessions to ten companies making investments in the state was also cleared by the cabinet during its meeting on Tuesday. Further relaxing state’s policy on molasses, the cabinet has allowed production of ethanol from B-grade molasses and approved new policy to promote export sesame oil.
Before the Cabinet meeting, a two-minute silence was observed to pay respect to the late Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
