She was first raped by an uncle. Relatives forced her father to settle the matter by mutual consent

A 21-year-old woman from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh committed suicide after she was allegedly raped twice. Her left palm had a few names that her family said were of her rapists.

The woman's mother alerted the police after she found her body hanging from a ceiling fan. The police said they have sent the body for post-mortem and launched an investigation.

According to the woman's brother, she was first raped by her uncle in a village under Daurala police station of Meerut when she went there to live with her nephew. Despite her insistence on justice, her father gave in to relatives' demand and settled the matter by mutual consent. "Our father was also scared of embarrassment to the family," said the brother.
