Vasai: Honest officer writes letter to top cop, pleads to curb drug menace

In an emotional letter to the Superintendent of Police, Assistant Sub Inspector pleads to curb drug menace and prostitution in Vasai, after his senior officers failed to take action on his tip offs and continued to support the drug mafias.

In an emotional letter to Additional Superintendent of Police (Vasai) ​an Assistant Sub Inspector attached with the Anti Human Trafficking cell of Palghar police department pleaded to take action against the drug mafias and prostitution dens after his superiors being hand in glove with the mafias failed to take any action.

The letter which is addressed to Yogesh Kumar, the top cop of Vasai division by Mahesh Gosavi, ASI of Anti Human trafficking cell reveals details of corruption and officers involved in drug menace in the twin cities of Vasai and Virar. The letter says Gosavi's information is not being used to curb the issues of drugs and prostitution and hence no action is taken.

The letter which further states that the corrupt officers in the department are not allowing him to work and file complaints against the mafias involved in selling Marijuana, charas, mephedrone and methamphetamine openly on the streets.

The letter also states that various families and youths have been affected with the drug menace and it becomes the responsibility of the police department to curb sale of drugs. The informers who gave him a tip off about the miscreants, is being given to mafias by senior officers.

Yogesh Kumar, Additional Superintendent of police, Vasai region said, "We have set up an enquiry committee to look into the matter and strictest action would be taken against the police officers, if found guilty."
