The VHP today said it would launch a country-wide agitation against any attempt to grant reservation to Muslims and Christians in the country."After Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal governments, two UPA ministers had recently announced that Muslims and Christian would respectively be extended 10 and 5% reservation and the VHP would oppose it tooth and nail", VHP general secretary Pravin Bhai Togadia told reporters here.Stressing that reservation on the basis of religion was "unconstitutional", he said the VHP would mobilise students in schools and colleges, apart from caste councils under a three-level movement from August to mount pressure onthe government.Togadia said that reservation for religious minorities has been challenged in courts whenever it has been implemented.Reacting sharply to recent demands to ban right wing Hindu organisations, Togadia alleged that branding "victims of terrorism" as terrorists is the work of the people who are sympathetic towards "Islamic jehadis" and "they are present both in political parties and bureaucracy".Togadia attacked Union home minister P Chidambaram over the delay in hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.To a question on caste based census, Togadia said that no individual, organisation or government should take any step which would create chasm in society and the Constitution too advocates caste-less society.
