Angry commuters on Central Railway staged a protest at Badlapur railway station on Friday morning, after a Karjat-bound train arrived later than the scheduled time.
A mob of commuters stopped approaching trains by protesting on the train tracks, affecting train services.
The passengers refused to leave the train for three hours, demanding assurance from the authority. However, they finally allowed the train to move at 10:55 am.
Central Railway PRO said on Twitter, "Passengers at Badlapur allowed train to move at 10:55 on both Up and Down direction, services resumed between Ambernath Karjat."
Earlier, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said, "GM DRM, officers directed early morning to help passengers in #Badlapur, sort out their problems. Requesting all not to agitate, all steps taken."
The delay had reportedly occurred due to a signal failure at Bhivpuri station.
