Crocodiles have been spotted in the residential area of Vadodara in broad daylight. Spotting of crocodiles has created terror among residents. Non-stop rainfall has thrown life out of gear in Vadodara. 

Heavy rainfall in Vadodara from past 24 hours has created a crisis situation. While operations are halted at Vadodara airport, almost 22 trains were canceled.

Vadodara received 18 inches of rainfall in a span of 12 hours. "Homes get flooded as record-breaking #Vadodara rains of 554 mm in 12 hours disrupt normal life," tweeted SkymetWeather. 

As torrential rains pounded Vadodara and nearby areas creating a flood-like situation, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani held a high-level meeting on Wednesday to review the situation in the city and deputed two IAS officers to provide guidance to the local administration. The Chief Minister also appealed citizens to shift from low lying areas to safer places, a statement from the Chief Minister's Office read. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed to shift people from low lying areas to safer locations.

All schools and colleges have been ordered to remain shut on August 1.  

Gujarat has so far received over 40% of its annual average rainfall. South Gujarat has received the highest rainfall so far. A high alert has been issued for two dams in South Gujarat — one each on Tapi and Navsari
