Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar has come under fire for saying that Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel were hanged by British.
"The struggle that began in 1987.. went on for 90 years... we threw away British... Netaji SC Bose, Sardar Patel, Pandit Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, were all hanged... Krantivir Savarkar, other freedom fighters took the bullet," said Javadekar addressing a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara.
Javadekar has been severely criticised for getting history wrong as Sardar Patel died in 1950 while Nehru died in 1964. In the declassified files, a Union Cabinet note said that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had died in an air crash in Taipei on August 18, 1945, amidst raging controversy over the INA chief's mysterious disappearance.
