In a disturbing incident, a woman from Mumbai's Juhu area has reported recurring harassment by unknown men. The woman, identified as Viyaa Doshi on her social media account with the username @viyaadoshi, shared her troubling experience on social media, claiming she has been harassed by semi-naked men for the third time in the same location.
According to Doshi's social media post, these men have been misbehaving with her in a similar pattern each time. They call out to her loudly after removing their pants in the middle of the road. Doshi took to her X account (formerly Twitter) to highlight her ordeal, posting a video in which a man can be seen running on the footpath in shorts and a vest in Juhu's Janki Kutir area. In the video, Doshi can be heard calling out to the man, who is jogging, but he is not seen directly engaging in harassment.
Juhu is known as a posh area in Mumbai, making these incidents even more alarming. Doshi has urged the Mumbai Police to take action and prevent further harassment. She expressed her frustration and fear, stating, "Juhu, Janki Kutir Area. This man was seen misbehaving with his pants down, calling out to me loudly in the middle of the street. This was at 8:55 AM today. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me in this location, from different men."
Doshi also mentioned that she attempted to contact the Nirbhaya Squad, a police unit dedicated to women's safety, but her call was not answered. She pleaded for increased safety measures in the area, noting that other women have shared similar experiences with her. "I urge you to increase the safety of this area as I have heard multiple women tell me similar stories in this location. I tried calling the Nirbhaya Squad but my call wasn’t answered. Please help," she added.
The Mumbai Police responded to Doshi's post, asking her to share her contact details via direct message for further assistance. They assured her that they are taking the matter seriously. The incident has sparked concerns about women's safety in what is considered one of Mumbai's upscale neighborhoods and highlights the need for effective measures to protect women from harassment and ensure their safety.
