Weather update: Heavy rains predicted in several states as wet spells seen in Delhi, Mumbai; check IMD forecast here

Up until around 4:30 pm today, several areas of Delhi-NCR are likely to encounter thunderstorms, lighting, and brief periods of mild to moderate rain. The weather prediction for the next few days calls for many orange alerts, mild to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning.

As yesterday's Well Marked Low Pressure Area over East Madhya Pradesh & neighborhood presently resides over westcentral Madhya Pradesh & neighborhood, this weather situation is anticipated to prevail over Madhya Pradesh.

During the next two days, it is projected to move west-northwestward across northern Gujarat and adjacent southeast Rajasthan. Isolated, extremely heavy rainfall is quite likely to occur today and tomorrow over southwest Madhya Pradesh and southeast Rajasthan, according to IMD. Similar weather is predicted for Gujarat through Monday.

Apart from this, today's southwest Madhya Pradesh and east Gujarat Region are likely to have one or two locations with unusually heavy rainfall. As of Monday, West Madhya Pradesh is expected to have isolated periods of very severe to extremely heavy rainfall, according to the IMD's red alert.

For Konkon, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra, and Kutch, an orange alert has been issued, signaling heavy to very heavy showers from today through Tuesday.This weather trend is predicted to continue today and tomorrow in North Konkan and North Madhya Maharashtra, but only today in Marathwada.

Similar weather is predicted for Saurashtra and Kutch from tomorrow through Wednesday. Gujarat is under a red alert from the weather service, which means that till September 18 the area is likely to see heavy to extremely high rains.

In light of the expected exceptionally heavy rain, another red alert has been issued for east Rajasthan for today and tomorrow. While tomorrow could bring 115.6 to 204.4 mm of heavy to very heavy rain to west Rajasthan. It is quite possible that Himachal Pradesh today and Uttarakhand on Monday will have light to moderate precipitation.

Over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from today through Monday, as well as Odisha on Tuesday and Wednesday, light rain, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected, with a few isolated areas of heavy rainfall being highly likely. It is highly likely that interior Tamil Nadu may get light rain today and tomorrow, as well as coastal and southern interior Karnataka.
