In Mumbai, heavy rainfall is expected on July 28, according to an update from the Regional Meteorological Centre.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for three districts in Kerala—Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod—on Sunday, July 28, due to the likelihood of heavy rain. The forecast predicts heavy rainfall in isolated areas of the state, with precipitation expected to range from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm over the next 24 hours.
Previously, a yellow alert was issued on Saturday for Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. On July 28, a yellow alert remains in place for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad districts. The yellow alert will continue on July 29 for Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts, and on July 30 for Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. Rainfall is expected to range from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm over the next 24 hours.
In addition, the coasts of Kannur and Kasaragod are likely to experience high waves and rough seas. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Centre has warned of the potential for a "kallakkadal phenomenon"—a sudden swell of the sea causing rough waves—with high waves ranging from 2.3 to 3.1 meters expected on the Kerala coast until 11:30 p.m. on July 28.

As a result of the heavy rain alerts, Mumbai University postponed all exams in the Raigad and Ratnagiri districts on Friday. This postponement was announced by the University's Director of Examination and Evaluation Board, Pooja Roudale. Additionally, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has fined contractors a total of ₹50.53 lakh due to delays in road repairs and inadequate road maintenance during the monsoon season. Many major and minor roads in the city are filled with potholes, causing significant difficulties for motorists, particularly two-wheeler riders, and resulting in frequent traffic congestion.
