Weather update: IMD issues red alert for heavy rains in these states, check forecast here

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in several states today, July 19. According to the IMD, isolated areas in Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Vidarbha, southern Chhattisgarh, and South Odisha are expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall.

Additionally, an orange alert for very heavy rains has been issued for Kerala, Mahe, and Tamil Nadu. In Maharashtra, a yellow alert for heavy rains has been issued for Mumbai, while an orange alert has been issued for Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Pune, and Amravati. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Mumbai has also issued a red alert for Gondia, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Satara, and Ratnagiri.

In Delhi, the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) predicts a cloudy sky with light rain and thunderstorms today. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be 29.6 degrees Celsius and 37.0 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to the IMD, isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Odisha on July 18 and 20; Marathwada on July 20; West Madhya Pradesh from July 20 to 22; and East Madhya Pradesh on July 21 and 22.

Heavy rains are also predicted over Rayalaseema on July 19, Gangetic West Bengal from July 20 to 22, and Jharkhand on July 21 and 22.

In Northwest India, the IMD forecasts isolated heavy rains in West Rajasthan on July 20 and 21; Haryana-Chandigarh on July 19, 21, and 22; and Uttar Pradesh on July 21 and 22. Additionally, isolated very heavy rainfall is expected over Himachal Pradesh on July 21 and Uttarakhand on July 21 and 22.

In Northeast India, heavy rains are predicted over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya from July 20 to 22.
