Mumbai is expected to continue getting heavy rains till tomorrow, July 9, said the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday. The latest forecast by IMD comes amid heavy rains leaving numerous parts of Mumbai waterlogged.

IMD has also forecasted isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Konkan and Goa, Ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra and Coastal Karnataka on Monday. These regions are also likely to see very heavy rainfall on July 9, 11 and 12.

Gujarat, Kerala and Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Interior Karnataka are also expected to witness heavy rains today while Coastal Karnataka will continue receiving heavy rainfall on July 9 and 12.

Heavy rainfall spells are also likely in various parts of central, northeast and adjoining east India and Uttar Pradesh over the next five days, the IMD said. “Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over West Uttar Pradesh on 11th; East Uttar Pradesh on 10th & 11th; West Madhya Pradesh on 08th, 11th; East Madhya Pradesh on 10th & 11th July,” the IMD forecast said.

“Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning very likely over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Central India; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Himachal Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi; isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Punjab and Rajasthan during next 5 days,” the IMD added.
