The flood situation in West Bengal arising out of the recent heavy rains and discharge from reservoirs was under control today.
Commerce and industry minister Partha Chatterjee said that chief minister Mamata Banerjee, currently in Delhi, telephoned during the day to inquire the flood situation.
"The chief minister was briefed about the latest situation which is under control," Chatterjee said.
He said that a meeting was held with the disaster management, irrigation and relief departments by the core committee on disaster management.
A meeting was held with home secretary GD Gautama, 10 district magistrates and senior police officers to finalise relief distribution and management in the affected districts, Chatterjee said.
