The 30-year-old officer, Arnab Roy, was in-charge of EVMs and VVPATs for the Ranaghat LS constituency

CID officials said they found him from Howrah Station on Thursday morning.

After being missing for a week, WBCS officer Arnab Roy has been traced by officials of the Criminal Investigating Department (CID), West Bengal.

CID officials said they found him from Howrah Station on Thursday morning. CID sources said he was tracked with the help of his telephone tower location but he did not appear to be in the right mental state so he has been asked to stay at his in-laws’ place at Howrah for the time being. “We will give him some time to gain composure before we question him,” an official said.

His phone had been switched off since he went missing on April 18. Although the last tower location showed at Shantipur in Nadia district, sleuths had kept a tab on it and it was switched on Thursday morning. He had also called up his family members from there. After CID sleuths were sure of his location, a team went to Howrah Station and intercepted him.

DIG (CID) Nishat Parvez said, “After he is interrogated it will be clear where he was in the last seven days.”

Roy (30), who was in charge of EVM-VVPAT at Ranaghat Lok Sabha constituency in Nadia district, was last seen at Bipradas Pal Chowdhury Institute of Technology on April 18. He was an official with the MGNREGA project in Nadia district. His wife Anita Jash, too is an official of MGNREGA. He went missing since then whereas his car was still parked within the institute campus. A missing complaint was filed at Kotwali PS and Nadia district police along with the CID began a joint hunt for him.
