Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed an election rally in the poll-bound state of Assam's Chabua. In his speech, PM Modi said that who could understand the problems of tea workers better than a 'chaiwala'.
Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, the Prime Minister said that he was pained to see the grand old party, who ruled the country for 50-55 years, supports those who wanted to ruin the reputation of India's tea industry.
PM Modi alleged that the grand old party is playing with the 'pride and glory' of the oldest industry of the state.
"Congress is supporting such forces. And while doing so it has the temerity to come here and seek votes of the tea garden workers. Who can understand the problems of tea workers better than a 'chaiwala'," PM Modi said.
His comments came a day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held an interaction with the tea garden workers in Upper Assam town.
"A mistake can happen once, but when it has been repeated, it shows the mentality. This is injustice and insult to the beautiful land of Assam," the Prime Minister said.
Further, Narendra Modi said that there was a conspiracy to defame Assam tea and Yoga and recently a toolkit was released too.
"A toolkit has been circulated that will defame Assam's tea. Congress party supports these toolkit makers & then has the audacity to ask for votes in Assam. Can we forgive them?," PM Modi asked people in Chabua.
Modi said that the Congress party had gone very far from the people of Assam. A few days ago, they shared a photo from Sri Lanka and said it was Assam. A few days ago, they shared a photo from Taiwan and said it was Assam. "It is injustice and insult to our beautiful Assam," PM Modi said.
Talking about BJP's development works, Modi said that the NDA government has built a solid foundation for Assam's development in the last 5 years.
"Congress and its allies want to cash in on this and loot Assam. Hence, you must be cautious and remember that Congress would put anyone at stake for their benefit," PM Modi said.
