The self-styled godman is in news for an impending verdict in an alleged rape case at a District Court in Panchkula on Friday.

1: Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is the spiritual leader of Dera Sacha Sauda, a powerful sect based in Sirsa, Haryana.
2: Born on August 15, 1967 in Modia,Rajasthan, Ram Rahim is said to be the only child of Sardar Magghar Singh Ji and Mata Naseeb Kaur Ji.
3: On September 23rd, 1990, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was appointed as the successor of Shah Satnam Singh and became the head of the sect.
4: Dera Sacha Sauda was founded in 1948 by Mastana Baluchistani. There are reports that the sect has over 5 crore followers all over the world.
