The bungalow mess in Uttar Pradesh refuses to go. After vacating the palatial house in heart of Lucknow, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday almost admitted the bungalow ‘damage charge’ saying that he will return all items missing and damaged if the state government provides a list to him

Yadav, who was in Vrindavan along with his family to pay obeisance to Lord Krishna in Baanke Bihari temple, appeared on backfoot and looked upset over TV reports showing his damaged bungalow. “It was an attempt to tarnish my political image. One should learn from the BJP how to do,” he reacted.

“The media should also show the entire house instead of just showing the parts, which could have got damaged in shifting. Let the government submit a list to me for the damage done and items missing, I will replace, return or pay for it,” said Yadav.

Yadav claimed that he left behind many of his personal items including rare plants and trees behind in the bungalow. “The government should return them to me,” he demanded.

Yadav was also annoyed why the media was showed his bungalow only and why bungalows vacated by other former Chief Ministers were not shown on TV channels.

One of his earlier tweets about opposition criticism on huge spending on his palatial bungalow was also getting viral in the social media. “Opposition calls my bungalow a ‘White House’. Are they living in Black Houses,” he had commented to silence his critiques.

Yadav said that he and his family has sought blessings from Lord Krishna to defeat his political rivals in Lok Sabha polls. He denied speculation that he would contest from Mathura. “Mathura is Dr Lohia’s ‘karamsthali’ and I will never ignore it,” he said.
