A man accused of killing a 24-year-old woman inside her hostel in Bengaluru has been held by the police. The suspect was identified as Abhishek and he was arrested in Bhopal where he escaped after committing the murder.
A video of the incident surfaced on social media. The police told PTI that Abhishek entered into the hostel (a PG accommodation) in Bengaluru where the victim was staying with another woman. The victim was from Bihar.
On Tuesday (July 23), Abhishek was seen walking into the corridor of the PG with a polythene bag. He then knocked on the door of the victim's room and dragged her out. The woman was resisting the attack but was hit by the man, who slits her throat and ran away.
Reacting to the loud noise, other women in the building rushed to the spot, but could not save her. A police officer told PTI that the victim was employed in a private company in Bengaluru.
A report by The Indian Express stated that Abhishek was the boyfriend of the victim's roommate. The accused and the roommate frequently argued about his unemployment, and these disputes accentuated. Kriti would sometimes intervene, and end up making the matters worse. Police further said that the victim pressurised her roommate to stop living with the accused and shift with her.
