Former Union Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal today said that if the NDA government did not bring down inflation, as promised in its manifesto, within three months, Congress would take to the streets.

Speaking to reporters here, Jaiswal said Congress had lost the election, but "has not lost courage. The NDA is going to form the government at the Centre with absolute majority. They had made many promises to the people of the country, including to bring down the prices. "Congress gives three months time to NDA government. If it does not bring down inflation within this period, we will take to the streets with the people," he said.

Earlier, addressing Congress workers at the party office here, Jaiswal thanked them for the support and work done during the elections. He said the UPA government's welfare schemes were not communicated to the people, especially the 16 per cent youth electorate, due to which the party had to face defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.

Jaiswal lost to senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi from the Kanpur Lok Sabha seat.
