Day after the final phase of Gujarat Assembly Elections, the Winter Session of Parliament will begin today.

The session will witness a stormy start with the Congress demanding apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his Pakistan remark.

During an election rally in his home state, PM Modi had alleged that former PM Manmohan Singh and other senior members of Congress were colluding with Pakistan for Gujarat Assembly polls.

Talking to reporters, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday said, “For the first time a Prime Minister has accused Former PM, former Vice President and diplomats of conspiring with Pakistan for Gujarat elections. PM must clarify in the Parliament.”

Ahead of the session, PM Modi said that he expected a 'fruitful session." He also said that, "I hope for positive and innovative arguments."

On Thursday also, after an all-party meeting, the Congress had demanded PM's apology.

"Either the government should prove the claim or the Prime Minister must apologise... Nothing short of an apology will satisfy us," Congress leader Anand Sharma had said.

The BJP, however, has already rejected the demand. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, in fact, termed the dinner at now-expelled Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar's residence as a 'political misadventure'.

Interestingly, BJP president Amit Shah will make his Parliamentary debut in the Rajya Sabha during the Winter Session today.

The Winter Session will provide a total of 14 sittings spread over a period of 21 days including four Private Members' days. Further, 25 Bills are pending in the Lok Sabha, while 39 Bills are pending in the Rajya Sabha
