With anger and grief, the family members and relatives of slain RTI activist and 2002 riot witness. Nadeem Saiyed on Sunday demanded exemplary justice for the deceased. Saiyed was brutally stabbed to death on Saturday morning in Juhapura.
On Sunday, when RTI activists held a silent protest in Juhapura, Saiyed's two brothers, one sister and relatives couldn't hold back their tears. Nazneenbano Saiyed, his sister, said: "My brother has lost his life fighting for justice and truth. Now, we want justice for him. The government and people in general must ensure that the real culprits are punished. My brother's sons have lost their father and my sister-in-law her husband; they must be given justice. If needed, the probe should be given to the CBI."
The anger and pain of losing the dear family member could be felt from the wet eyes of Shakil Saiyed, younger brother of Nadeem.
"There are many well-educated people and high-level government officials living in Juhapura, but nobody had ever bothered to address the issues of basic infrastructure and amenities in this area. My brother took it up as a mission and had made significant changes in the area. He has done more than anybody else to develop this area."
He further said, "He has sacrificed his life just two days ahead of Bakr-Eid, which is considered the day of highest sacrifice. We want that his sacrifice does not go in vain. His death is not a small thing; he was present himself for deposition in the riot cases this month."
About the possible motive behind Nadeem's murder, another younger brother Wasim Saiyed said: "I don't know the reason or the motive, but the government should get us justice and find out the actual reason. We want exemplary justice in this case, not because he was my brother, but he was an activist who has sacrificed his life fighting for social causes."
