A woman who allegedly honey- trapped and blackmailed a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP she had accused of rape was arrested on Monday from her home in Ghaziabad.
Police filed a complaint after KC Patel, MP from Valsad claimed that a woman-led gang took him to a house in Ghaziabad, spiked his drink and then filmed him in an objectionable manner.
While the woman has alleged that the MP raped her on several occasions, Patel claimed he was drugged and obscene videos and photos were shot by her. Patel also alleged that the gang has been blackmailing him threatening to make the video clips viral if not paid Rs five crore.
The court has sought an action taken report in the matter and police have launched investigation. No rape case has been registered against Patel yet.
Police claimed it has emerged that the woman has been involved in similar instances earlier. However, her claim is being verified, police said.
Mukesh Kumar Meena, special commissioner of police, New Delhi range, said it was a "sensitive matter" and appropriate action will be taken.
