FIROZABAD: Worms were allegedly found in the 'kheer' served during the mid-day meal at a primary school here on Saturday, triggering a protest by parents.

The rice pudding served at the school at Kishanpur was left untouched by most of the 175 students after a few plates were found to contain worms, according to the FIR lodged in this connection.

The parents of the children then took to the streets, raising slogans against the Basic Shiksha Adhikari and blocking the main bypass for around two hours.

District Magistrate Vinay Kumar Srivastava later pacified them and sent a sample of the 'kheer' for testing.

He has also ordered the sub-divisional magistrate to conduct weekly inspections of the school and initiated action against the organisation preparing the mid-day meals.
