Wanna go on a Diwali vacation but worried that train tickets have been sold out. Well here is some good news. The Western Railway has announced additional special trains for Diwali.
According to Western Railway sources, the railway will run 20 holiday trains in a week for nine weeks. Ahmedabad Division (WR), senior DCM Uday Shankar Jha said, "The special trains have been arranged to accommodate the heavy rush and demand
articularly for general trains." Jha said that despite special holiday trains people prefer the routine trains that run on a particular route. Special ticket reservation counters have also been set up for these special trains. Given the increase in traffic movement during Diwali, additional forces of RPF and GRPF have been deployed at the stations as part of the increased security measures.
The details of some trains are as follows -0923 Ahmedabad-Lucknow Express will run weekly. The Ahmedabad-Lucknow train which was began from September 18 will run till October 30. The train will leave Ahmedabad on Friday and on Sunday it will
return from Lucknow.
The train will have stoppage at Godhra, Ratlam, Kota, Agra Fort, Kanpur. Similarly, 0925 Ahmedabad-Yashwantpur a weekly train since September 15 will continue till October 27. The Ahmedabad-Yashwantpur Express leaves Ahmedabad on Tuesday and will reach Yashwantpur passing through Nadiad, Vadodara, Surat, Pune, Raichur, Ananatpur. The same train leaves from Yashwantpur on Thursday.
Similarly, Mumbai bound Bandra-Gandhidham weekly train leaves Bandra on Thursday at 11.25 pm and reaches Gandhidham the next day afternoon. The train will run till October 30 and it will stop at Borivilli, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Viramgam.
For those who want to travel to New Delhi, the Western Railway is running Mumbai Central-Nizamuddin Express twice a week. On every Friday the train leaves at 4 pm from Mumbai Central and reaches Nizamuddin station the next day morning.
The train has stoppage at Surat, Vadodara, Ratlam and Kota. In another move the Western railway has also arranged for extra coaches for some special trains to cater to the heavy rush. One AC I tier coach and two AC III tier coaches have been added to the Ahmedabad-Rajdhani Express.
