Taking a cue from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s social media blitzkrieg, the yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has also decided to telecast live-streaming of all major public events of the Chief Minister on different platforms of the social media ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
A decision to this effect was taken at the Cabinet meeting on Monday. The Cabinet has also approved the hiring of an independent agency to take the firebrand saffron leader and the BJP government go aggressively on the social media.
“All major public events of the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanathji will be streamed live on the Facebook, Youtube and other platforms. Like the PM, all events of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister will also be available live on social media. People of the state, as well as those associated with the media, will be benefited from it,” said Dr Sidharth Nath Singh.
Dr Singh, however, allayed the fear of the electronic media digital media and that live telecast of all major events of the Chief Minister and Yogi Adityanath government will affect their live coverage and TRPs.
“The BJP government’s decision is not to demean or override the broadcast and print media. Their coverage of news events, panel discussion and analysis will continue to have its own relevance even after live-streaming. Print media scribes and TV journalists who in case miss any event will be benefitted greatly from the state government’s decision,” clarified the Spokesperson.
The government has, however, not disclosed the name of the agency it has hired for live-streaming and launching a major blitzkrieg on social media. An information department senior official claimed that all equipment for the live-streaming has already been bought by the department.
The information department is also hiring a bigger US-based server to make live-streaming seamless. It will also make all live-streamed events available on its website as we as provide the video coverage to broadcast media in real time.
In other major decisions at the Cabinet meeting, the state government has increased subsidy on seeds from 50 percent to 80 percent for farmers in Bundelkhand and sanctioned Rs 40 crores for digging 5000 ponds in parched Bundelkhand areas for irrigation purposes.
The state government has also decided to set-up Farmers’ Banks to make available loans to farmers in Bundelkhand for buying farming equipment. The government will provide a subsidy up to Rs 8 lakhs on it.
