As part of its #PledgeToVote campaign, Google India features Shyam Saran Negi—India's first and oldest voter
With less than two weeks to go to the Lok Sabha elections, Google India joins the nation as it prepares to create a new government. In a campaign, #PledgeToVote, the tech giant is urging Indians to get out and exercise its right to form its own government. In a rather emotionally charged video, Google India's YouTube channel feature 97-year-old Shyam Saran Negi, believed to be India's first voter.
Negi cast his vote during the nation's first ever general elections in 1951, at the first polling stations set up in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. He has voted in every General Election since then.
The video description explains, "This is the true story of a man who never missed an opportunity to vote."
