Kanwar Yatra: Supreme Court Puts Stay On UP, Uttarakhand Diktat Asking Shops To Display Owner Names

SC puts hold on UP government's name plate order outside eateries. The move comes amid the ongoing hearing in the Supreme Court on whether the name plate order on the Kanwar route in Uttar Pradesh will remain or will be removed. The court said that shop owners will only display the kind of food served in their eateries. NGO 'Association of Protection of Civil Rights' has filed a petition demanding cancellation of the order. The bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice SVN Bhatti is hearing the case. Last week, the Muzaffarnagar Police directed all eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to display their owners' names, and the Yogi Adityanath-led UP government later extended this order statewide.
