CSK vs KKR, IPL 2020: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) still in the race but the 6 wickets loss to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) sees Mumbai Indians (MI) become the first time to qualify to the playoffs.

MS Dhoni’s team are the only side to be officially out of the playoff race and they will be determined to spoil the party for the rest. Kolkata on the other hand seemed to have bounced back with a win against Delhi Capitals (DC) but crashed with a heavy loss to the resurgent Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).

The equation is simple for Kolkata Knight Riders. If they lose, they will have to win their next game against Rajasthan Royals and hope Kings XI Punjab lose in a big way to Chennai Super Kings. However, if Kolkata Knight Riders lose both of their remaining games, they will be eliminated from the playoff race. The game between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals assume massive importance as a loss for Rajasthan Royals will knock them out of the race.

CSK win by 6 wkts, MI qualify for Playoffs

A SIX and Sir Jadeja does the job. KKR are not out but they also have to rely on other teams for their fortunes.

With CSK's victory, MI have qualified. A KKR loss has paved the way for MI to be the first team to qualify.

KKR 172/5 (20)

CSK 178/4 (20)

10:54 PM

Big wicket, Gaikwad BOWLED for 72

Ruturaj Gaikwad looks for a paddle and misses it to be clean bowled by Pat Cummins.

Ravindra Jadeja, the left-handed bat, comes to the crease.

Chennai Super Kings need 33 runs in 16 balls

10:38 PM

Chakravarthy sends MS Dhoni back again

Two out of two for Chakravarthy as he clean bowls Dhoni once again in this IPL. Dhoni's woes with the bat continue.

Sam Curran, the left-handed bat, comes to the crease.

Chennai Super Kings need 52 runs in 30 balls

10:32 PM

Partnership broken, Rayudu goes for 38

Short, angled in, Rayudu danced out and flat batted it straight to the man at mid-off.

MS Dhoni, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

Chennai Super Kings need 53 runs in 36 balls

10:17 PM

2nd IPL fifty for Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad brings up another fifty and does so in his own inimitable unassuming way.

Chennai Super Kings need 81 runs in 51 balls.

09:55 PM

Shane Watson departs for 14

Chakravarthy gets the breakthrough for KKR. And as always, Watson throws his wicket away. A touch fuller around middle and leg, Watson looks to go big and miscues this completely.

Ambati Rayudu, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

09:18 PM

2nd Innings

Shane Watson and Ruturaj Gaikwad at the crease. Pat Cummins to start the attack for KKR.

KKR had ended on 172/5.

09:09 PM

KKR set 173 runs target for CSK

A fluent start by Gill, featuring Rana, but as soon as the former departed, the young southpaw took over and launched an assault.

He didn't receive the best support from Narine and Rinku, but Rana laid into Karn Sharma in the 16th over. Karthik and Morgan later added the required runs - 66 runs off the final 5.

As for CSK, their bowlers executed variations well, but the spinners - with the exception of Jadeja - were below par.

09:03 PM

Captain Morgan departs for 15

A slower one on a length inveigles Morgan into committing to the bottom-handed swat over long-off.

Rahul Tripathi, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

08:51 PM

Nitish Rana's innings comes to an end

Nitish Rana caught by Sam Curran and it is a spiffing catch. The bat swung, attempting to launch this over long-on, but this time the ball skies and Curran runs in, settles himself under it.

Dinesh Karthik, the right-handed bat, comes to the crease.

08:34 PM

11tth IPL 50 for Nitish Rana

KKR's slowest fifty this season.

Rana last four innings:

50*(44)

0(1)

81(53)

0(1)

08:31 PM

The third wicket, Rinku Singh departs for 11

Rinku Singh gets too low to have a swat at this sweep to deep square leg. He only ends up with a top-edge that is skied towards fine leg where Rayudu holds onto this.

Eoin Morgan, the left-handed bat, comes to the crease.

08:13 PM

Sunil Narine's innings comes to a halt

A slow and full ball by Santner, knowing Narine will go for the big hits, the batsman backed himself to clear the big boundary but is mistimed and he slogs it straight into the hands of Jadeja at deep mid-wicket.

Rinku Singh, the left-handed bat, comes to the crease.

08:08 PM

Shubman Gill BOWLED

Strategic Time-out does the trick for CSK. Karn Sharma breaks the opening partnership as Shubman Gill is Bowled. The leg stump is uprooted.
