The recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) season would not have been the way fans of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wanted on the field but their team certainly dominated in the off-field prominense. Mumbai Indians may have won the IPL for a record fifth time, but Chennai Super Kings ruled the roost as far as social media trends were concerned. Twitter generated their numbers of the IPL on Wednesday, in which CSK emerged as the most talked about team on their platform.
CSK were followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Delhi Capitals (DC). CSK's skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni playing after a long hiatus, him playing for the first time after his retirement, the 'Yellow Army' not qualifying for the playoffs in the IPL for the first time - were the many talking points for fans and cricket pundits alike.
Virat - the most tweeted player
RCB and Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli was the most tweeted player despite enormous buzz around MS Dhoni. Apart from taking his side into the playoffs after 2016, Kohli was also in trends for various other reasons - the stare shared with Suryakumar Yadav, his wife and actor Anushka Sharma being present at the ground, and also for not having a great season with the bat as per his standards.
